Entrance to Pompeii ampitheatre

Description

One of the two entrances to the oldest still standing amphitheatre in the world. The building survived the volcanic eruption in AD79. One entrance was for the ceremonial presentation of the gladiators. The other was used to remove the dead from the sands.
